We’re happy to share some memories about the second edition of our Exchange Program with St. Michael’s college.
We’re all ready and excited to fly to London for this wonderful experience. Red caps on…ready to board!
This time we stayed North of the Thames in a place called Bloomsbury.
Close to our hotel was Russell Square, a typical London park with perfect flowerbeds and even an ‘insect hotel’, how lovely!
British Museum & Camden Market
We started the trip off with a bang by exploring the British Museum and the quirky streets and stalls around Camden Market.
We were amazed by the decoration and the taste of exotic dishes… The churros being a definite crowd pleaser! Everyone took the opportunity to buy souvenirs for their family and friends. How cool are these crochet flowers we found?
The Royal Campus of Greenwich University
All tired but happy we made our way back to the hotel as the following day the school week was began!!
We couldn’t believe our luck to be invited once again to the majestic Royal campus of Greenwich University. We had a real taster of University life witnessing the university students deep into their exams. Professor R. Wright delivered an engaging lecture about history and language.
We were all surprised by the amount of idioms you can use when speaking about school and study.
Strolling around the royal borough we were fascinated by the stories about Henry VII, Elisabeth I and Admiral Nelson. Our guide disclosed many fun facts and even led us to a secret meridian!
London has it all!
London has it all. We were lucky enough to experience the city through every means of transport. Here we are catching our train back through London. Over the course of the week we walked, rode on double decker buses, took the train and the tube… Mind the Gap!
Days at St. Micheals College
Looking all prim and proper to start our days at St Michaels.
We had a warm welcome in the main hall and met Mr. Kelly and our buddies before following them into their classes. Some of our favourite subjects were drama, history, geography, Art English and D&T.
Spending time with our buddies!
We had lots of special moments together outside of the classroom too. Bonding over a bowling night and even a trip up Tower Bridge. It was magic!
Activities and Entertainment
The week was packed with many other activities. We visited parts of the city like Covent Garden, Soho; Piccadilly and China Town, landmarks such as Big Ben; Trafalgar Square and Buckingham Palace, along with lots of museums such as British Museum, NPG and Tate Modern.
We were spoiled with an amazing production of Mamma Mia! And also, we were enchanted by the magic of Shakespeare at the Globe!
We tried all the typical and street foods: from fish and chips, burgers, and sushi to the most renowned hot dogs!!
And then.. it was our turn to host!
A month later our buddies from St Michael’s travelled over to visit us. We were lucky enough to have them stay at the Salesian House next door to school. We welcomed them in the main hall, and then started Maria Ausiliatrice celebration.
We attended Mass and prayed together: thanking The Lord and Mother Mary for our friendship and the great opportunity of spending. time together. After a delicious cake contest!
Sports events were on the last one being the football match final: ITALY vs ENGLAND ITALY won!!! And we were all very happy!
Friday was a jam-packed day starting with a cake contest and ending with a game show. Each team was named after an Italian city and were competing through questions and activities to win the competition. Some memorable challenges were english and Italian tounge-twisters and a hula hoop showdown. After working up an appetite we finished the day with a buffet together.
We can’t wait to see them all again in London this November and continue to… DREAM OUT LOUD!
